A day at the park, a graduation, and some primer.

In between work, and homework, and housework, we try to find time to play. Last weekend we took the kids to Jacobson Park south of Lexington. Beautiful park! Not so parent-friendly playground. Although the kids both had a blast, the massive conglomeration of wooden tunnels sized just right for toddler get-a-ways made me a nervous wreck. Not to mention once Anna was in the thick of it I couldn't see her. And the place was crawling with kids. And adults. And the parking lot was close by. Call me paranoid, over protective, what have you, it seemed like a recipe for an abduction to me. Regardless, we did have fun.

Although an equation comes to mind....when one two year old spends five minutes in a sand box, how can the said toddler carry home half her body weight of sand in her hair, and retain the sand to body ratio despite numerous baths and scalp scrubbings? I need a rocket scientist...and maybe a fire hose.

Thursday night, after a late staff meeting and a quick supper of Anna's choosing - McDonald's. we headed back to the school for Kindergarten Graduation. My baby girl is now a graduate! Yes, please pass the tissues. When asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she responded, "A teacher." Awwwwww!!!

As for the house, it's still coming along nicely!
Today, while waiting for some delivery bees to drop off insulation for us to install (which, by the way, never came) Earl and I had fun testing out some paint samples. It's never too early to plan ahead!
Looking towards the front door...
The great room.....with our extra window!
Our soon-to-be kitchen...
This week cabinets and flooring are on the agenda, with us scheduled to paint next weekend. If any of you out there have a pressing desire to spread some color (errr...kind of) on walls, pick up your roller and come on by!

  1. We are so proud of Anna, she's such a good girl, or should we say, young lady! The house is coming along nicely. Jill was very impressed with the size.
